Your Club Need You – Club Officials Required

The club runs a number of successful galas every year and to make these galas successful we require the help of officials. If you don’t know, they are the ones in white on poolside at galas. Without qualified officials we cannot run such our events. Recently the number of Billingham club officials has reduced to just 2. Our galas require at least 16, therefore we rely upon the goodwill of officials from other clubs. To continue to run our own events successfully we need more officials from our own club.

Why choose to officiate? That is the key question. Firstly, it is very rewarding helping the club to put on its own events. You also have a great poolside view to watch your own children swim – you will be close they can even splash you!. Normally, mileage expenses and your lunch will be paid for and sometimes a little gift to say thanks for your time. You can officiate at any gala the club is involved in. Even the ones in Sheffield. Some gala events will even contribute to your hotel bill! So rather than watch the swimming from a sweaty balcony – why not officiate on poolside!

Secondly, it has now become even more convenient to become an official as the course has just changed. There is now no need for classroom sessions as all the theory is done online can be done in about 8 hours. You just need to put in a few sessions to pass the practical experience over a 12 month period (approx. 15 hours) and with our own club galas in the calendar already – you will have plenty of opportunity to do this without leaving our own pool.

So please – if you are interested or even slightly curious; please contact Lynn Shepherd on BASC@hotmail.co.uk – remember your club needs your help, and you may have a little fun and make new friends along the way.
