Return to Swimming Information – Updated

Please note the updated timetable below – changes are highlighted. This timetable will be in operation for the first 4 weeks. Note that we will now also be operating 6 lanes and not 3 double lanes. Maximum number per lane is 5.

We are pleased to announce that the club has had a number meetings with Tees Active to discuss the our safe return to the pool and we can confirm that this will be a 2 phased process.

Phase 1 is for squad swimmers only and training will commence from Monday 17 August 2020. Phase 2 will be for the weekly parent and Saturday swimmers but no fixed date has yet been confirmed, however it will not be until 19 September at the earliest.

One thing is abundantly clear with our return – swimming will be vastly different and we as a club have to follow a number of guidelines and procedures – some of which are outlined below:

  • Swimmers must have completed both the Health Screening and Risk Assessment forms. These have been emailed to squad members and must be returned to Don Briggs before the 17 August.
  • Each squad of swimmers must register at the entrance to the forum – they will be escorted to the pool by BASC officials. Late entry will not be permitted.
  • Swimmers will sanitise hands on entry and remove shoes prior to entering poolside.
  • Beach style changing will be in operation – i.e. all swimmers must come prepared and have swim wear underneath their clothes. There is no pre-pool warm up.
  • Each swimmer will be allocated a storage space and a one way system will be in operation in the changing village and poolside.
  • All equipment must be clearly named, and taken home for cleaning after each session. Drinks bottles must be named and pre-filled
  • No shower facilities will be available.
  • Strictly no parental supervision/spectators allowed at this stage of the process.
  • Swimmers must leave the pool on time to allow cleaning and similar entry process for the next pool users.
  • Maximum of 30 swimmers allowed in the water. 3 double lanes will be in operation. Swimmers must swim in the same lane during each and every session.

We hope some of these measures will be reduced as we progress through this process over the coming weeks but as you can appreciate we have to adhere to the rules imposed to allow a safe return in an ever changing environment.
